Hace un tiempo celebramos el cumpleaños de mi papi. ¡Él es la persona más increíble que se puedan imaginar! Es muy justo, dice lo que piensa y siempre está de buen humor. Su fortaleza es siempre buscar el lado bueno a todo; nunca pierde la esperanza y lucha ante cualquier adversidad.
A while ago we celebrated dad’s birthday. He is the most awesome person you can imagine! He is very wise, always says what he thinks and he is always in a good mood. His strength is to always find the good side of everything, he never loses hope and fights through any adversity.
Como si eso fuera poco, tiene el trabajo más cool de todos. Desde muy joven viajó por el mundo en barcos cargueros inmensos. Mi mami, hermano y yo, viajamos con el hasta que fue momento de entrar a la escuela. Éramos muy pequeños, pero hay momentos de aquella época que nunca voy a olvidar.
Cuando mi mami falleció, hace casi 12 años, mi papá dejó en segundo plano todo su dolor y se centró en nosotros. ¡Es el mejor padre y el mejor abuelo del mundo!
Besides all that, he has the coolest job ever. Since he was very young he traveled around the world in huge cargo ships. My mom, my brother and I used to travel with him, until we were old enough to go to school. We were little kids, but there are moments from those days that I will never forget.
When mom past away, almost 12 years ago, my dad put all his pain aside and focused on us. He is the best dad and best Grandpa ever!
Este año quise hacer una torta especial. A mi papi le gustan los piratas, así que con mi hijo decidimos hacer un diseño acorde al tema. Hice una torta de red velvet, la decoré con fondant e hice unas figuras de masa de goma, como un cofre de tesoro, una botella de ron, una palmera, y a mi papi vestido de pirata 🙂
Pasamos todos juntos en familia, mi papi disfrutó mucho su celebración, y repartió todas las figuras de la torta a sus nietos.
Mi vida no ha sido completa sin mi madre. La extraño todos los días. Pero la familia que me queda es mi mundo, y sin su apoyo no sería quien soy.

This year I wanted to make a special cake for him. My dad likes pirates, so my son and I decided to use that theme for his cake. I made a red velvet cake, decorated it with fondant and made some gum paste figures, a treasure chest, a bottle of rum, a palm tree, and my dad dressed as a pirate 🙂
We spent that day together, dad enjoyed his special day, and gave all the gum paste figures to his grandchildren.
My life hasn’t been complete without mom. I miss her every day. But the family I have is my world, and without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.
